to make the decisions? so i ran for the city council in my junior year when i was 20 years old and i won. four years later i decided that i would like to be the mayor. iran and i won and laboratories of democracy i truly think cities are the frontline frontline of democracy. cities are where ideas get put into action where you can see if they are going to make a difference or not. one of the ideas that i championed it my second year in 2009 back when i was a young man was a smoking ban. banning smoking in public parks outdoors and after playgrounds and dining spaces in the comments which is a buyer -- which is our outdoor pedestrian park. the time it was very radical. the following year mayor bloomberg at the did the same thing in new york city. so he is welcome but that. i sent him a note and i told him any other ideas you want we can talk. you can do these things on a city level because you can reach -- speak to them and not let don't speak over them because you can only keep their attention for this long. who can grab and hold onto their attention what is more he cannot score politica

with pedestrians. so, where to put the bicyclists? city officials are going to try a novel idea. northbound lane on the embarcadero closed down, just for bicyclists. they think it is good because they want to keep them often sidewalk away from the pedestrians. there are -- there are signs around the embarcadero flashing now warning people of how crowded it is going to be. the plan for the bicyclists has not been widely publicized this is a new idea. they are going to shutdown a lane between bay and washington starting tomorrow. really, the message is, just don't even try to drive a car down here on the embarcadero this weekend. the elite flight team will take to the skies saturday and sunday afternoon. some of the pilots say san francisco is one of their favorite cities to fly over. they ever a big event not necessarily the main event. they will be sharing the stage the america's cup semi finals sailing competition is expected to attract huge crowds especially down at marina green. then don't forget about the giants' playoff game tomorrow. crowds on the embarcadero trying to get to the stadium.

traffic also looks pretty good getting up to daily city. let's go to steve. >>> thank you. a happy friday. yesterday some areas north bay, east bay really warmed up. south bay, about as advertised. today looks like the system will prevent us from warming up. tomorrow we'll start the process all over again. 40s. napa, san rafael. livermore, low clouds. they did not have that yesterday. 51 in san francisco. oakland airport 52. there's trying to get a little sea breeze, but it continues to decrease here. although slightly stronger than yesterday. nothing crazy. that system, though, high pressure is coming behind that. it will start to nose in saturday and sunday and monday, definitely warm to hot. inland temps look like the system will come down today and start to turn around and head warmer on saturday and definitely warm to hot inland on sunday and monday. now, the coast, looks like there will be an on shore breeze, but they will warm up. the fog should burn off sooner. it doesn't look like it will scour down. cool for some, warm for others. fog for many. reduced visibility, hazy sunshine.

and signed it from congress, the model for me was a program based in boston called city year, which a lot of you know about. it is a great program. when i left the white house there was discussion about whether americorps would be defunded, the largest affiliate in the united states was city year, and mitt romney was on the board. i wrote him a letter saying we should continue this. i called him and i was out of the white house and i said, governor, i love city year. that is what americorps is all about. i hope you will save it. he urged the republican congress to continue to support city year, and they did. i just visited the program in south africa where the youth unemployment rate exceeds 40%, and 80% of the volunteers in johannesburg have a job the day they leave city year. it turns out it is good economics and good for the society. all of you should know that, and, governor, i thank you for being here. the podium is yours. . the city of phoenix policy is to back off and follow. what will happen when they get further down the road is another matter. there are unconfirmed reports whether the driver fired at police but that is what ksaz is reporting, our station from the sky fox pilot. trace mentioned the signals. the signals are digital. they have to be really strong. you do not only get a partial signal anymore the way we used to. with digital it is locked in, which it now is, or you don't get it at all. it freezes. then it goes to black. it is possible we could lose this signal. it is my understanding our station in phoenix has multiple transmission towers so the chopper would be able to point toward another "receive" location so it is possible we can follow this with police. you have to hope, trace, this guy does not cause another driver who is not aware of what is going on to make a move that gets people hurt. >>trace: that is the concern when someone is armed and you go back to the transmission issue. there are a number of microwave antennas on different mountains around phoenix area. they can bounce from o
